1992 Jack Green Civil Liberties Award Honoree

Georgia Prescott has been an activist and spokesperson for civil rights throughout her life. In the 1960’s, she was a activist for the United Farm Workers Union and participated in voter registration drives in Detroit. In the 1970’s, she began working in the women’s rights and lesbian rights movements. She helped create the Lesbian Voters Action Caucus, the Lesbian/Gay Democratic Club and The Brown Bag Readers Theater. For the past ten years, she has worked for the senior citizen population, and is currently Executive Director of the Council on Aging of Sonoma County, which runs the Meals on Wheels program and many other services for seniors, and is a columnist for Senior Spectrum Magazine. Ms. Prescott has also been honored with the Woman of Achievement Award from the Sonoma County YWCA and the Community Service Award of the Lesbian/Gay Democratic Club.
